Children's Cooking &
Baking Classes
Starting in 2001, Chef Sokol began classes throughout the school year and in the summer dedicated to teaching children ages 10-18.
Taught on Saturdays in the commercial kitchens of Schenectady County Community College, each class is taught as a group of five, 3-hour sessions from 9 a.m. to noon. These classes usually highlight a specific theme. Previous themes have included Five Weeks to a Gourmet Meal, Five Weeks of Pizza (both savory and sweet), International Cuisine, and Healthy Cooking and Baking.
A Summer Baking Camp is taught during the week, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. through 2:30 p.m. throughout the month of July.
Chef Sokol immerses her young students in the principles of cooking and baking while teaching correct measurement, sanitation, and kitchen science. Each themed class includes a recipe packet written specifically for young chefs in a step-by-step approach to break down seemingly complicated recipes into manageable stages.
Classes are broken down by age.
